Barefoot Cove Marina
Barefoot Cove Marina. CLSA pays a discounted annual fee so CLSA members may use the bathrooms, dumpster, and electricity at the marina building at no extra charge. This arrangement affords our members access to modern bathrooms with running water just steps away from our sailboat dock. Since our sailboat ramp is shallow, most keelboat owners store their boat with Barefoot Cove Marina. Barefoot Cove Marina also offers concrete ramp access for larger keelboats, slip rentals, mooring ball rentals, banquet room rental, refreshments, food, and fueling service.
Burgee Program. CLSA participates in the Burgee Program. The Burgee Program is the only comprehensive insurance program developed to meet the unique needs of all types of sailing organizations - yacht clubs, community programs, schools, classes, fleets, paper clubs, and more. The program is managed by the marine experts at Gowrie Group, underwritten by Chubb, and endorsed by US Sailing. The program protects not only the organization, but also the board members, flag officers, volunteers, members, and employees.
University of Illinois Sailing Club. CLSA is home to Illini Sailing and their fleet of 420s. The University of Illinois Sailing Club maintains a special group membership that allows its members to use CLSA facilities to practice and host their annual regatta. If you are a University of Illinois student, please visit their webpage and contact the UofI Sailing Club for more information.
Mid Illini Sail & Power Squadron
Mid Illini Sail & Power Squadron. The Mid Illini Sail and Power Squadron is the local chapter of America's Boating Club/US Power Squadron. Mid Illini has excellent instructors, great training but no facility or boats. Conversely, CLSA has a great facility and boats but their education offerings are limited to small boat and dinghy instruction. The US Power Squadron offers a variety of courses that cover most aspects of boating. The completion of Power Squadron courses and designations are recognized by other national organizations. Mid Illini sponsors a flotilla trip to the British Virgin Islands every two years that is attended by many CLSA members. The cost to join Mid Illini and take classes is $82 annually plus textbook costs, typically $40 per class. These courses provide sailors with knowledge and the confidence to be able to successfully charter 40-foot yachts in the British Virgin Islands
US Sailing. CLSA is a sustaining member of US Sailing. US Sailing is the governing body of our sport and is the gold standard in sailing education. Many of our members are US Sailing members and several of our members are US Sailing Certified Instructors.
