Mid Illini Sail and Power Squadron I
What: Caribbean Charter Cruise Information Session
When: October 14, 2013 at 6:30 pm
Where: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1822 E. Lincoln St. Bloomington, IL
Have you ever dreamed of Cruising in the Caribbean, aboard your own boat, charting your own course, exploring secluded beaches, snorkeling on a coral reef? Perhaps you want to cruise with other boaters on a charter or with other boats as a group. Does your horizon extend beyond Clinton Lake? Then consider this an invitation that will bring you closer to realizing your dream.
As the approaching fall brings an inevitable winter layup, members of Mid-Illini are ready to launch a sequence of classes that will prepare a group of boaters for a charter flotilla trip to the British Virgin Islands in the spring of 2015. Our classes will include Seamanship, Piloting, Anchoring, Sailing Skills, Boat Handling, Cruise Planning, and Weather Fundamentals. Many of our members have chartered boats in the Caribbean before and volunteer as instructors. They will share their experience, along with the course material developed by the United States Power Squadron. We are not soliciting for customers but only want to offer our services as a boating education organization.
On Monday night, October 14th, at 6:30 pm, we will hold an informational meeting before we begin our 8 week Seamanship course. The course will run 8 – two hour sessions followed by a night of review and a final exam. If interested, please consider this invitation to listen to our plans and even sit through the first night of class while you decide if this is something for you.
Hope to see you at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on October 14.
