Hobie Cat 16 For Sale
Hobie Cat 16 for sale, $500 OBO
Our orange 16 ft Hobie cat on the beach at Clinton sailing cove is from the late 1970's and in sailing shape, albeit not very pretty. It comes with a useable trailor. We have not had time to use it much the past couple of years, sailing our cabinboat more, and will be away next year so have decided to part with it. Alternatively, if you would just like to be able to use it for a year, you could pay the "landstorage" marina fee for 2009 (about $350?). My email is hughrobe at uiuc.edu and phone is 217-778-1320.
CLSA Work Day Party a success !!
The CLSA 2009 Work Day is now history...(see photos in "Image Galleries")
We heated two pots (one chicken, one beef) on the CLSA Flagstone Grill as some CLSA Members cooked hotdogs, roasted marshmellows, etc. over the CLSA firepit flames.

Join Gary Jobson and the ESPN sailing team for this exciting new event, The
New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, raced in identically matched Club Swan
42s.
Over four days, September 16 - 19, nineteen teams from 14 nations sailed an
incredibly tight battle. The crews were amateur except for one professional
tactician on each boat. For the first time ESPN broadcasts a sailing regatta
in High Definition.

10AM - Work Party
All members encouraged to participate -- as with enough helpers it becomes a "fun party" instead of a "work party". We will put away the CLSA FLEET and decide what repairs / improvements may be needed over the winter. We'll prepare the Committee Boat for the winter, clean up the grounds, etc.
Bring a can of soup/person for the
Vicki Cup
What a gorgous day to end the CLSA racing season! 10 mph variable oscillating winds and warm sunny skies welcomed the seven boats participating.Joe Thompson and Mike Trautman ran the committee boat as has been the tradition the past few years. They sent the fleet to the west access after making the boats round a windward turning mark to star the race off. Craig Rost dominated the fleet with Alex on jib and spinnaker pulling away in their speedy "Thistle".
Club Championship
The Flying Scot fleet stole the show on Sunday. The weatherman brought the best wind and weather of the year ..with 5 to 15 mph variable wind out of the west that challenged the most astute compass readers to look out for where the "new" winds might be coming then "crunching the numbers" to determine when to tack their boats.CLSA commodore Don Johnson showed his growing mastery of sailboat racing as he with crew Karen..finished second in all three races to capture the overall win over a very challenging group of racers.
