Clinton Lake Sailing Association
2005 season
Invitation
The Clinton lake Sailing Association (CLSA) invites entries from the owners of suitable yachts to compete for prestigious trophies on the waters of the Clinton Lake in central Illinois.
Introduction
If you are new to racing, the rules and the jargon can be an intimidating, but don’t let that deter you; racing is fun, and most situations are covered by a few simple rules. Although racing can be intense, shouting during CSLA races, if any, is so that we can be heard above the wind and to make sure we are seen by other boats. Protests are unheard of in recent years, though close calls are discussed after the race over refreshments at the pavilion, generally in a spirit of education. Conflicts between boats usually means that they are interfering with each other’s wind and slowing each other down, so stay clear of other boats. CLSA races are for fun and education, and we want newcomers to join in, so sail fast, and have fun.
"It is the people we meet and the friends we make that are the true trophies of our sport" -- Paul Elvstrom
"I will never try to steer myself into a situation that I know might create a discussion after the race ... Any protest immediately cuts down on my social hours after the race is over." -- Buddy Melges.
