A winter walk, honoring our first President!)
We will dress for the weather, including possibly bringing a change of "mud shoes or boots," and meet in the same parking lot as last year.
Directions:
Take the road which heads to the Boondocks Restaurant and Beach Area (it's just North of the cooling ditch bridge...). When you get to the locked gate for the beach, turn right and follow the road as it curves to the right to the end of the road (locked gate with gravel road behind it). The parking where we will gather is on your left...
Be sure to arrive before 1PM, (a good time to chat with others about the upcoming season) as we will begin walking into the woods at 1PM (the path makes a huge circle that mostly hugs the coastline of Twin Horn Bay/Houseboat Cove and takes about an hour -- usually the group sorts itself out into the "fast walkers" and the "slow walkers..." There is a park bench on the point about a third of the way into the walk where the fast walkers usually wait for the slow walkers to catch up, and a few stumps will "rear up to meet yours...if needed."
In Previous Years:
Some folks bring their kids, some bring their dog on a leash, and the walk takes about an hour.
Some bring a walking stick to aid hopping over the muddy spots or slopes -- or pick one up along the way-- to make things easier for arthritic hips and knees.
A camera to take nature shots is a good idea (I've attached a couple of my favorites...) if you're into nature photography.
Upon returning to our vehicles, we gather and chat while the "slow group" finishes and then most of us...
head for Clinton for Monical's Pizza !! and more conversation and frivolities!
We'll order "Family Pleaser's (pizza, salad, and drink)" for most of us on a group tab and some will order the salad bar or a special entree instead...
