Glow Regatta a was a huge success! Thanks to Ben and Deb Williams 15 Flying Scots competed for five beautifully crafted sailing trophies. Four races were conducted over the two day event . Nick Schneider did a masterful job [with help from his wife Angela] doing race committee for this high level racing event. The races were extremely competitive as racers from door county, wisconsin and Medicine lake,Minnesota to the north and Chatanooga,Tennessee to the south pitched their tents friday night. The weather was true to Glow in the Dark form as the wet doldrums of the previous week were broken by the approaching canadian air masses of the fall season.Even though they "saw it coming" Chris and Rick Wojnar got blasted on Saturday by a huge wall of wind that smashed them midway thru a two lap windward /leeward race because they "turtled" their Scot and were left swallowing water and struggling for air in the waves and whitecaps pounding them..as the "crash boats" secured for the event scurried to their rescue...Ben and Deb in "Sophie" also got knocked down by the line of "blackwater" leading the storm front that skirted Lake Clinton that afternoon . Bens mainsheet developed an unforseen knot in it and he could not let the mainsail out! More details of the exciting weekend of fun and competition are coming soon.....
