A Night to Remember

Every once in a while everything comes together and you have an evening to remember forever. Last night was one of those evenings. Thinking that this would be our last Wednesday night racing for the Flying Scots of the season, we pulled together an impromptu potluck to cap off the season.

The wind was light when we (Anna Stenport, Olof Westerstahl and their children, Marta and Jacob, Don Johnson, Karen Hewitt, Chris Wojnar, Ben Williams and Deb Aronson) first arrived, so we decided to eat first — Gotta  have your priorities in order, after all! The food was wonderful: brats and hamburgers, three different salads, dessert and drinks. But then we "snapped into action" put all the food away and ran for the boats before the sun went down.

By that time the wind had come up just a bit and it could not have been better conditions. None of us felt like racing after that nice meal, so the three boats (one red, one white and one blue) reached across the lake right in front of the CLSA dock for almost an hour before it got so dark we came in. Marta rode with Don and Karen and skippered the boat almost the whole time, Jacob rode with Ben and Deb and steered a bit. He mostly preferred the low side. Poor Anna and Olof were left to sail their Scot on their own!

It was a great way to wind up our Wed night racing season and a night to remember!
