Plimsoll Day, Saturday March 10th @1pm

posted Mar 6, 2018, 5:16 AM by CLSA Sailing

This Saturday at 1pm, let's gather and symbolize the passing of Winter and the arrival of Spring by burning your winter socks!
We'll meet at CLSA and build a great bonfire. Then, to show that winter is gone and we no longer need the heavy, warm socks, we will throw a pair of our socks into the bonfire and welcome Spring.

Bryan and Angie will bring hot dogs. Please bring your own beverage and maybe a snack to share.

Samuel Plimsoll (10 February 1824 – 3 June 1898) was an English politician and social reformer, now best remembered for having devised the Plimsoll line (a line on a ship's hull indicating the maximum safe draft, and therefore the minimum freeboard for the vessel in various operating conditions).

Although Plimsoll Day is traditionally celebrated on February 10th, we will celebrate during the warmer weather. To read more about Samuel Plimsoll, click here:
