This year the third annual Sadie Hawkins regatta will be held Sunday, July 4.

This is a once-a-year event where the ladies call the shots. Any boat may compete in the series of short triangle races, but the key is that only women may skipper. Men are welcome on board as long as they keep their hands off the tiller

The CLSA Banshee and Sunfish are available for members to race in this event.

Hello sailors! It is FINALLY time to start thinking about things nautical (and warm). We're through the worst of it!

We will be having the annual Valley Forge Forage (begun as a Winter activity vaguely in honor of Presidents' Day) at Mascoutin State Park near Clinton Lake (see map URL below). We will meet in the parking lot near the Houseboat Cove Trail at Mascoutin starting at 2 PM, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011. This will be followed by an optional dinner at Monical's in Clinton.

CLSA Harbor Spring Work Day – April 30, 2011
1. Grounds – rake leaves in and around pavilion – put in burn pit & burn
a. Beach – remove weeds and debris to burn pit – rakes, shovels
b. Sunfish launches – put on beach in last years location - anchor?
2. Toilet – level out with wood under south side – pry bar, 2x4-4’ long for shim under low side
3. CLSA Boats – pump up tires, move to grass area, clean out bottoms, put tarp over to keep clean – air tank, small broom, “dust pan”, bungee cords
a. Where to place boats that are to be sold? Clean out and cover them?

The 2011 CLSA Windsurf Regatta will be held on May 7.

Registration will begin at 12:00

Skippers meeting will be at 12:30

First race will be begin at aproximately 1:00pm.

The registration fee will be $10.00 for non-members and free to current CLSA members.

Awards will be be given for the top three positions.

Low point scoring system will be used.

Keep this date! We're planning a big event. Sailboats, Fun, Food, Boat Auction....

A small boat racing clinic will be on Saturday June 4 at Noon for all interested club members at the CLSA pavilion.

The target audience is someone who may be reluctant to give sailboat racing a try. The objective is to reduce sailboat racing intimidation, by simplifying the racing rules and working on boat handling.

The clinic will include:
Boat setup assistance
Basic sail trim
Quick review of Basic Racing Rules
Starts
Boat handling drills on the water
Racing practice

The concepts will be illustrated using a Laser, but will generally apply to other small boats.
