Sunday March 29, 2009
Start: Mar 29 2009 6:00 pm
Carol and Bob Miller are coordinating our CLSA Spring Banquet. We will gather at the Clinton Lake Marina. The Miller's have arranged for the Hickory River Smokehouse to provide us with chopped beef, sliced turkey, baked beans, cole slaw, garlic mashed potatoes, corn bread and beverages (probably iced teas and lemonade). Greg Forrest (the marina manager) will offer beer (and possibly wine) at a cash bar.
Your cost is $15/adult, $8/child (12 and under) and free for children 5 and under.
Contact Carol Miller at cam48@linuxmail.org to reserve places for you, your family, and friends.

Calling all historians, archivists, and people who like to bring order to the world!! We will gather at Dave and Betty Toland's house this Sunday, April 19, at 2 pm to sort through all the paper records of the club. Our hope is that we can toss out duplicate documents and also keep all records in a somewhat central location instead of scattered to the four winds. If you have any records at all from the club, please bring them!!
If you need directions to Dave and Betty's you can call them at 309-662-3372. Betty says she will serve ice cream. Anyone want to bring brownies?!

Ahoy,
The first 2010 CLSA Board meeting will be January 13th, 2010 at Imo's Cafe at 6PM to plan out the 2010 Season.
(Take I-74 from Bloomington/Normal or Champaign/Urbana and exit to the South onto State Route 54 at the Farmer City exit. Continue South to U.S. Hwy 150 -- the first stop sign and you are already in front of Imo's Restaurant. Imo's has a LARGE and varied menu, along with VERY reasonable food prices. Imo's has provided CLSA a glassed-in meeting room for years totally FREE to CLSA...please consider purchasing some food to thank them.)

Many CLSA'ers go to this show (www.strictlysailchicago.com) EVERY year -- it's that good an experience!
There are great deals to be had on sailboats and sailing gear, sailing seminars to attend (no additional charge, in most cases...), and "the pond" where you can pilot a Radio Controlled sailboat around a Windward - Leeward course.
Where else can you try out various reefing systems for your main next year, winches, pumps, docking echniques, etc. in the Winter?
Of course, Chicago has many other attractions as well...why not "make a 'Special' weekend out of it?"

Meet between the South entrance to the Marina and the water. Time 10 AM -2
If the water is too hard to sail, we'll do a "dock walk" to check out the boats "wintering over" in the ice. In past years, some have folks walked on the harbor ice across the lake(using a battery drill with a L O N G bit to check the ice depth for safety), while others chose to ice skate!
If the water is soft, cabin boats still afloat will gather a crew and sail briefly. One year, the boats returned to the docks in a snow squall (see photos on the CLSA website...)
