Board Meeting Minutes, April 2, 2008

Meeting called to order by the Commodore at 6:15 Pm.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and corrections to the minutes were recommended. Woody Chenault motioned that the corrected minutes be approved. This motion was seconded by Bill Vokac. The motion was approved.
Woody Chenault presented Treasurers report. He reported that the:
Previous Balance on 2/29/08 was $1144.40,
Total receipts were 1165.00,
Total disbursements were 1145.00
With a Balance as of 3/31/08 of $1164.40.
Motion to approve the treasurers was made by Ben Williams, the motion was seconded by Bill Vokac. The motion was approved.
A motion was made by Woody Chenault to grant Bill and Sarah Freyman an Honorary Life Membership in the Clinton Lake Sailing Association in recognition of their work and efforts on behalf of the Association over many years. The motion was seconded by Bill Vokac.
The Motion was approved.
A motion was made by Ben Williams that we cease production of the Windward and use the CLSA web site to publish information about upcoming events. Until the new website is up and running anyone who needs to publish information about an event can contact Ben and he will place it on the current website. This motion was seconded by Jim Westervelt.
The motion was approved.
Harbor master - No Report.
Bill Vokac reported that we have 40 paid members to date, and that we had 11 new members this month. We had 101 members at the end of last season and we should aim for 125 members this year.
Commodore - presented info about the CLSA Windsurf Regatta. Ben stated the info will be put on the website. The date of the regatta will be 3 May, 2008 beginning at noon. The cost is free for CLSA members and $15 for non-members.
The Commodore entertained a motion to dismiss; the motion to adjourn was made by Bill Vokac, and seconded by Woody Chenault.
Motion to dismiss was approved.

Meeting was called to order at 6:28 PM
Ben Williams Motioned that the minutes from the last meeting be approved, this was seconded by Jason Palmer. Motioned carried.
The Commodore explained the voting rules and announced that we have a quorum.
Woody Chenault presented the guideline budget that he has developed for this year. Bill Vokac motioned that we approve the guideline. This motion was seconded by Ben Williams.
The motion was approved.
Jason Stoller proposed that the club form an MC Scow fleet. To do this we need 3 boats which he believes we have. The fee to join the National Fleet is $25.00. He pointed out that we are much centered in Illinois as the boats are built near Lake Geneva, WI.
Woody Chenault moved that we support and encourage the formation of the CLSA MC Scow fleet. Bill Vokac 2nd the motion and it was approved by vote.
2008 CLSA Calendar: Ben Williams moved that we accept the revised 2008 calendar, Woody Chenault 2nd. The motion and it was approved.
Boat Show: Bill Vokac gave a presentation about the "In Water Boat Show" which is scheduled for May 17, 2008, from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. He is still looking for volunteers to work that weekend in the CLSA Booth, and give sailboat rides and show the various fleets in the Association.
The Webmaster, Ben Williams, gave a report of the new CLSA web site. He said the web site is coming along but is not functional yet. He said that the newsletter material will be part of the web site.
The Harbor Master, Jim Westervelt, reported that he has a need for volunteers to get such work done as a design and set up for the boat house that will keep the boat equipment separated so the club boats can be quickly rigged.
Bill Vokac reported that we have 29 paid members, and he is planning on having a membership table set up at the Spring Banquet so people can renew their membership there.
The Commodore presented his ideas for a youth program, and wants input and feedback from the CLSA membership. He recommended planning events in this program for July and August to take advantage of lighter winds. He asked for input as to whether the events should be scheduled before races or as a stand alone event. Woody Chenault suggested that we kick the program off at the Spring Banquet. Laura Palmer, the U of I Sailing Club Liaison, said that they are willing to help with the program.
Bill Vokac made a motion to have Frank Scotello register the CLSA with the U.S. Wind Surfing Association with the first year membership at $40.00. The motion was seconded by Tom Galyen.
Motion approved.
The U of I Sailing Club Liaison, Laura Palmer announced that they wish to donate a Sun Fish hull to us for use as part of out fleet. In return their members who are certified by the CLSA or a CLSA certifier with the U of I Sailing Club and with a approval certificate (waiver) in the hands of the CLSA could use it. Bill Vokac and Laura Palmer will work out the details of the use.
Bill Vokac moved that the club accept the boat, and stated that we will need a title to it. Jim Westervelt seconded the motion.
The motion was approved.
The Commodore entertained a motion to adjourn.
Bill Vokac moved to adjourn, and Ben Williams seconded.
The move was approved and we adjourned at 9:02 PM

January 09 CLSA Board Minutes

CLSA Board Meeting Imo’s Cafe Farmer City 1-7-09 Present Commodore: Don Johnson Vice Commodore Jim Budden Secretary: Tom Galyen Membership Chair: Bill Vokac Flying Scot Fleet Captain: Deb Aronson Commodore Don Johnson called meeting to order at 6:25 PM November meeting minutes were not available for reading. Old Business: Web site. The CLSA Web Site needs to be brought up to speed as soon as possible. It is need to let present and perspective member know of our existence. As we did not have the people at this meeting to thoroughly discuss the problem, Commodore Don Johnson called a meeting for 21 January 2009 at Imo’s Restaurant in Farmers City. Jim Westervelt will be able to give us a presentation of a new web site. Harbor Master Report was not available. Treasurer’s Report was not available. Membership Chair Bill Vokac reported we have 12 paid members for 2009 so far. The 2008 membership expires on March 1, 2009. Bill requested up to $150.00 to pay for mailings of membership renewals and the mailing of the new membership cards. Motion to reimburse Bill Vokac up to $150.00 for mailing membership renewals and membership cards was made by Tom Galyen. Motion was seconded by Joe Budden. Motion carried. Dates were set for February Events, they are: Sunday February 15, 2009 Valley Forge Forage at Mascoutin State Park. Saturday February 21, 2009 10:00AM to 2:00PM Plimsol Sail. Bill Vokac will make arrangements to have the Marina open for restroom facilities, and an R.V. for food and warmth. A motion to adjourn was made by Joe Budden Motion seconded by Tom Galyen Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:01PM Meeting was adjourned at 7:29PM
